Chapter 19

The Decisive Battle

Chapter 18

“It was also allowed to make war against the holy  ones and conquer them, and it was granted authority over every tribe, people, tongue and nation” (Rev 13:7).

.

Our Lady is in the final stages of her mission on Earth, fulfilling God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. She tells Mirjana Soldo: “I have come to call the world to conversion for the last time. Later, I will not appear any more on this Earth [in this way].” “What I have started in Fatima, I will complete in Medjugorje. My Heart will triumph!”

In late 1957, Sr. Lúcia dos Santos noted: “The Virgin was now engaged in a decisive battle with the devil. He saw that his time was growing short…At the end of this decisive battle people will be ‘either, of God, or the evil one!'”

In 1983/4, Sr. Lúcia sent a letter to Carlo Cardinal Caffarra in response to several questions he had posed: “Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. And those who will work for the good of the family will experience persecution and tribulation.”

In May, 2017, during one of his last talks to the Rome Life Forum, Cardinal Caffarra said: “Satan is hurling at God ‘the ultimate and terrible challenge’ to show he is capable of constructing an ‘anti-creation’ that mankind will be deceived into thinking is better than what God has created.”

He told the conference that his talk was “based on these words of Sr. Lúcia and therefore, on the conviction that what she said in those days, are being fulfilled in these days of ours.

”In August, 2017, Raymond Cardinal Burke – referring to today’s apocalyptic “signs of the times” – acknowledged his understanding of that letter from Sr. Lúcia. He noted: “Thus, I really do believe that we are in this decisive battle. It is one of the reasons why – in my own little way – I am doing whatever I can to defend the truth about marriage and the family.”

He also advised: “Our Lady used ‘apostasy’ in her Message of
Fátima and this, in fact, is what is going on…The Church is  being torn asunder right now by confusion and division.”

In an interview shortly before his death on September 6, 2017, Cardinal Caffarra said: “Only a blind man could deny there is great confusion, uncertainty and insecurity in the Church!”

The Eternal City, a documentary about the Vatican and the popes throughout history, notes: “Pope John Paul II is waiting for the promised sign which will usher in the end of our times, and for the second Pentecost, which will bring about a spiritual renewal of a Godless world. He foresees the time is short and the struggle will be intense.”

In his opening address to the USCCB fall meeting in Baltimore, in November, 2013, the apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Carlo Vigano, reminded the bishops of the prophetic warning of Karol Wojtyla in 1976, two years before he was elected pope: “We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American Society or the
whole wide circle of the Christian Community realizes this fully.

“We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and  the anti-church; between the Gospel and the anti-gospel; between Christ and the antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.”

Over a century earlier, on October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII had a vision wherein he heard God granting Satan a period of one century to carry out his plan to destroy the Church. It began about 1917 and will end when the first secret in Medjugorje has been accomplished.

On July 30, 1987, Our Lady said: “Dear children, this is the reason for my presence among you for such a long time – to lead you on the path of Jesus. I want to save you and, through you, to save the whole world. Many people now live without faith; some don’t even want to hear about Jesus, but they still want peace and satisfaction! Children, here is the reason why I need your prayer. Prayer is the only way to save the human race!”

The mission entrusted to Mary began on the 18/19th of July, 1830, in Paris, France. She appeared to Sr. Catherine Labouré, a nun in the Sisters of Charity convent at 140 Rue du Bac, warning of the dangers to France. Within eight days the revolutionaries had completely overthrown the government!

Four months later, on November 27th, Mary appeared to Catherine again. Showing her an oval frame with gold lettering she told her, “Have a Medal struck after this model. All who wear it will receive great graces; they should wear it around the neck. Graces will abound for persons who wear it with confidence.”

On the reverse side of the medal, Mary’s heart is shown, pierced by a sword, recalling the prophesy of Simeon: “(and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Lk 2:35). Yet, the position of the two hearts – beside each other – was not clarified for another century.

Then, in 1936, Christ told Lúcia: “I want My whole Church to
acknowledge that consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary so that, later on, it will put the devotion to the Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart.”

Earlier, on June 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to Sr. Lúcia and told her: “Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.”

Mary has appeared in various places throughout Europe since 1830. The messages she presented were generally for penance and sacrifices, especially for the conversion of sinners. Then, a noticeable change occurred on July 13, 1917. The children in Fatima were shown a horrific vision of Hell, and the threat of another war – one that would encompass the entire world. These were followed by her appearances in both Spain in 1961, then, Japan in 1973, both with the threat of great confusion
in the Church and severe chastisements “worse than the flood!”

Our Lady’s appearances culminated in 1981 when she began a final series of apparitions and messages to six children in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia. She is currently presenting each visionary with ten secrets; some similar; others quite  different. The contents of the messages are generally
unknown to each other; however, all agree the third secret refers to a permanent Sign from God as proof of His existence.

There will be three warnings given to the world. These warnings will be in the form of events on Earth. Our Lady has entrusted Mirjana with ten secrets that specifically pertain to the world. They will occur within her lifetime, and she will be a witness to them.

Mirjana said, “Our Lady told me that it is necessary to pray a great deal until the first secret is revealed. In addition to that it is necessary to make sacrifices as much as possible; to help others as much as it is within our abilities; to fast, especially now before the first secret.”  We are advised to begin our conversion now for the time remaining is short.

Ten days before each of the warnings, she will advise Fr. Petar Ljubicic – the priest she chose [and Mary confirmed] for this task – who will then pray and fast with Mirjana for seven days. Then, three days before each warning is to occur, Fr. Petar will announce to the world what,
where, and when the event will take place.

After the first admonition, the others will follow in a rather short time. Thus, people will have some time for conversion. That time will be a period of great grace and conversion.

According to Mirjana, the events predicted by the Blessed Virgin are near. As a result Mirjana proclaims to the world: “Hurry, be converted; open your hearts to God.” She hints at a timeline: “At this moment, according to Our Lady, we are living in a time of grace; after this will come the time of the secrets and the time of her triumph.”

“Our Lady said that people should prepare themselves spiritually; they should be ready, and should not panic, and they should be reconciled in their souls. I mean they should be ready for it. They should be ready to die tomorrow. They should accept God so that they are not afraid since
they have God in them and they can accept everything.”

On April 25, 1983, Our Lady said: “Be converted! It will be too late when the Sign comes. Beforehand, several warnings will be given to the world. I need your prayers and your penance. I pray to my Son not to punish the world. I beseech you, be converted. You cannot imagine what is going to happen, nor what the Eternal Father will send to the Earth! That is why you must be converted!”

She further advises: “Renounce everything, sacrifice yourselves for those who need your help. Express my gratitude to all those who pray and fast. I carry all these gifts to my Divine Son in order to obtain an alleviation of His justice against the sins of humanity. Persevere and help me that the world may be converted.”

On August 15, 1985, Our Lady said to Mirjana: “My angel, pray for unbelievers. People will tear their hair; brother will plead with brother; he will curse his past life lived without God. They will repent, but it will be too late! Now is the time for conversion.”

Mirjana said, “They have no idea what awaits them and that is why, as their Mother, she is in deep anguish for them! That is why the Blessed Virgin continues to encourage prayer and fasting: ‘You have forgotten that with prayer and fasting you can ward off wars, suspend natural laws.’”

Ivan Dragicevic stated: “One day when the time comes, when some things get revealed, you will understand why the apparitions are such a long time and why every day. Later on, we will understand some things; our eyes will be opened when we see physical changes that are going to happen in the world. This is so important to understand. The time in front of us is the time of great responsibility.”

There is an ominous sadness in Our Lady’s expression at times as she discloses the secrets to Mirjana, who finds them most difficult to accept; hence, the reason Mary often repeats them, especially the latter more serious ones. As we await the time of the unfolding of the secrets, let us put into practice all of Our Lady’s messages.

A morbid curiosity about the secrets accomplishes little and can actually detract from the messages Our Lady presents to help us. Yet one must be made aware of the predicted events; they are a part of the messages. Perhaps some think it cruel to present them to children; however, one must recall that Jacinta was only seven years old when Our Lady showed her the horrific vision of Hell in Fatima!

Our Lady will stop appearing in Medjugorje when each visionary has received all ten secrets. What is known about the ten secrets are listed below. The information was obtained from several sources [Visionaries’ interviews] and is presented as accurately as possible. The fourth through the seventh secrets contain no verifiable information.

The First Secret
The first occurrence will be something that people hear about, very far [away]. It will be something that everyone,  everywhere, will immediately hear about. People would not race to the place where the first one occurs because surely no one wishes to watch disasters, distress, and misfortune. She said people in Medjugorje will know immediately that it is in connection with the secrets.

Mirjana indicated that the first of ten messages [secrets] she was given by the Virgin Mary involves not a global miracle, but a severe regional event. She said the first secret needs nothing to precede it and will abundantly speak for itself.   There is little doubt that what she has been told is serious. She said: “The first two secrets are not all that severe
and harsh. What I mean is, yes, they are severe, but not as much as the remaining ones.”

On October 25, 1985, Mirjana was shown the first secret during a vision – like pictures projected on slides. She said, “’It shook me the most. Let me just say that it won’t be good at all. It won’t be pleasant. If the people saw the first secret as it was shown to me yesterday, all of them would most certainly be shaken enough to take a new and different look at themselves, and everything around them. I now know things
that are not particularly pleasant. I believe that if everyone knew about these same things, each one of these people would be shocked to their senses and would view our world in a completely different light.”

Mirjana offers some consolation when she tells us, “The first secret will break the power of Satan; and, that is why he is so aggressive now!” Then, with a knowing smile, she adds: “To the people of this world who pray, it will be a gift!”

The Second Secret
Mirjana: “The first two secrets are not all that severe and harsh. What I mean is, yes, they are severe, but not as much as the remaining ones.”

Fr. Petar Ljubicic: “Are [the secrets] perhaps of a notable, distinct character, or more of a spiritual nature?”
Mirjana:
“It will be visible. It is necessary in order to shake up the world a little. It will make the world pause and think.”
Fr. Petar:
“A catastrophe?”
Mirjana:
“No, it will not be anything as huge as that. That will come later! It will be something that will give the world something to think about seriously, allow it to see that she was indeed here, and to see and realize that there is God, that He exists.”

The Third Secret
This secret concerns a great Sign which Our Lady will leave at the place of her first appearance on Apparition Hill [Mt. Podbrdo]. The children know what the Sign will be and at least four of them know the date.

It will be a permanent, visible Sign. Of it, Our Lady said: “Hasten your conversion. Do not wait for the Sign that has been announced. For unbelievers it will be too late to be converted. For you who believe, this is an opportunity to be converted and to deepen your faith.”

After the visible Sign appears, those who are still alive will have little time for conversion. For that reason, the Blessed Virgin invites us to urgent conversion and reconciliation. The permanent Sign will lead to many healings and conversions before all the secrets are fulfilled.

After the third secret is fulfilled and the Sign is seen by all, we will be either for God, or against Him. There will be no more straddling fences. Our Lady added, “The only weapons that will remain will be the rosary and the Sign that the Eternal Father will leave.”

The Fourth Secret
There are no verifiable comments.

The Fifth Secret
There are no verifiable comments.

The Sixth Secret
There are no verifiable comments.

The Seventh Secret
There are no verifiable comments.

The Eighth Secret
Ivan said the eighth secret is very difficult. Mirjana, noting the eighth secret is worse than the previous seven, prayed often with others for it to be mitigated. One day Our Lady told her she had succeeded in mitigating the secret; but, added:
“By the grace of God, it has been softened, but you must never ask such things again because God’s will must be done!”

The following comments are speculative; they are suggested for the ninth and tenth secrets only. Severe chastisements, clearly described in the apparitions from Fatima, Garabandal, and Akita may well be applicable to these latter two secrets. It is possible that the tenth secret consists of similar events proposed in the ninth secret. A possible chastisement that correlates with the severely of the ninth and tenth secrets
comes from three independent sources noted in the following secrets.

The Ninth Secret
The ninth secret is serious. Ivan noted that, whereas the eighth secret is very difficult,
“The ninth and tenth are altogether bad.” Mirjana added: “Our Lady said people should prepare themselves spiritually, they should not panic. They should be ready for it. They should be ready to die tomorrow!”

It concerns a chastisement for the sins of the world. Punishment is inevitable for we cannot expect the whole world to be converted. This punishment cannot be mitigated at all.

The following three chastisements are speculative because they are as yet unfilled chastisements from three major apparitions in the twentieth century. The first – an approved apparition – was given to the visionaries in 1917, in Fatima, Portugal: “After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames
that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but, they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand. Pointing to the Earth with his right hand, the Angel then cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance; Penance; Penance!’”

The Tenth Secret
The second, an apparition currently under study by the Vatican, was given to the visionaries in Garabandal, Spain in 1962. One of the visionaries, Mari Loli Mazon, died in Boston, Massachusetts on April 20, 2009. She purposely left a signed statement concerning two visions all four children had in 1962, on the 19th and the 23rd of June. The visions
concerned the threatened punishment which she describes quite vividly.

“The Virgin explained to us how this great punishment would occur because there would come a moment in time in which the Church would seem to perish, as if it were finished, or  disappearing. Finally, we saw a multitude of people enveloped in flames; desperately they threw themselves into the seas and lakes but, upon entering the water, far from putting out the flames, the water was boiling and seemed to help the flames burn more.”

The third, an approved apparition, was given to Sr. Agnes, a visionary in Akita, Japan on October 13, 1973. Our Lady told Sr. Agnes, “If men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as no one has ever seen before.”

“Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only consolation which will remain for you will be the rosary and the Sign left by my Son.”

All three chastisements appear to have one thing in common: Fire! Will it be a type of fire that burns but does not consume? Here again, it must be stressed that these three chastisements are speculative only! It is remotely possible that all, or one of the three above, will describe the currently undisclosed ninth and tenth secrets. In any event, Mirjana’s
description describes events no one wishes to have to endure!

In Medjugorje, Mirjana noted: “Much of the world has strayed far from a life centered around God and family. The answers we need to redirect our life can be found by reading Scripture and living Our Lady’s messages. I don’t think anyone could argue, regardless of religious orientation, that today’s world is[n’t] in a state of crisis. All one has to do is read the newspaper or watch television to see how eroded the morals of our world have become. It is shocking to see and hear the examples of terrorism, inhumanity, cruelty, violence, abuse, drugs, war, crime, etc.”

When God intervenes directly in the affairs of men we can expect some portions to be of a trying nature. Let us accept them with gratitude for God who dearly loves each one of us. One should find comfort in the fact that the visionaries have all chosen to marry and raise a family. Surely, this breathes hope in all who will be directly affected by those
ten events.

This, then, is a message of love and hope for a world in crisis; a message that, with love and trust in God, peace will eventually be given to the world! We have the promise Our Lady gave to the children in Fatima in 1917: “In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph!”

As we include Our Lady’s messages into our daily lives, we await the unfolding of the great plan, including the revelation of the ten messages that are termed secrets. Each secret will be publicly announced to the world several days before the specific event occurs. This will also serve as proof that God exists, and that Our Lady definitely appeared there.

At a predetermined date in time, following the fulfillment of the tenth secret, we will enter into a new era, a time wherein we will see the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary acknowledged and proclaimed throughout the world, thereby fulfilling Our Lady’s promise to the visionaries in Fatima in 1917.

Meanwhile, we await the Sign John Paul II anticipated; a Sign similar to that seen by St. Paul, Constantine, and St. Faustina – predicted to be seen at many of the sites where Mary appeared over the last century. It will give us the assurance that God truly exists and afford us the courage
we will surely need in order to get through those difficult times.

Pope St. John Paul II stated quite often: “Be not afraid!”  If, and when, those prophesized events occur, let us respond as Christ advised: “But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand” (Lk 21:28). ”Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Mt 25:34).

“Then I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth. The former Heaven and the former Earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

“I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them [as their God]. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, [for] the old order has passed away. The victor shall inherit these gifts, and I shall be his God, and he will be my son’” (Rev 21:1-4,7).
